Steamboat Springs High School

Home to approximately 650 students, Steamboat's public high school is dedicated to academic achievement and community involvement. The school's goal with each student is to "Inspire; Share a passion for exploring meaningful ideas; Promote intellectual agility and life-long learning; Maximize individual talents; Foster confidence; Respect diversity in all forms; Provide a safe and trusting environment; and Develop emotional intelligence, social engagement and community involvement."

The high school is conveniently located next to downtown Steamboat and along Spring Creek. This location makes it easy for students to walk to and from town when needed and makes the high school a central point for many sports and extracurricular activities for students.

The high school boasts 20 club sports teams. Inside the school there are two large gyms, a weight room for student athletes to train, and a turf football field for sporting events and practices. The school also accommodates for skiers by offering the option for skiers to take more classes off-season to allow them to leave school at lunch during ski season to train.

Steamboat Springs High School also offers other great clubs to join. For example, the Drama Club at the high school has won multiple Colorado Thespian Excellence awards and puts up around two shows a year. Also, the school hosts the nationally-famous Ski Band, a marching band at the school that dons skis during the Winter Carnival Parade to show off their musical cheer.

Teachers at the high school have also been recognized often for their excellence. Most recently, history teacher Deirdre Boyd was named the 2018 Colorado History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. To add to this, Steamboat Springs High School was named to the College Board AP District Honor Roll in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
