One Last Ride
Bright blue skies, 60 degree temperatures and tacky single track. Sounds like a perfect summer day to be riding trails of Emerald Mountain. With storm clouds on the horizon, I grabbed my bike for on last adventure. The Fat Lady was about to sing and I wanted to head up for one last song. As ski areas across the country begin turning on their lifts for the season, we are holding out for one final day. Our snow guns are ready and the high country is already painted white after receiving over a foot of snow in the past week. Mother Nature graced us with one more beautiful day. It's all set to change over night and in the morning we might wake up to a winter wonderland. Emerald Mountain has seen some changes over the past few months. New and exciting trails have been added, including the areas first downhill only trail. Emerald Mountain has always been my favorite place to ride and our hidden gem keeps getting better year after year. I was not the only one with thoughts of hanging the bike up for the winter. Normally quiet on weekdays, it seemed like the whole town came out to say goodbye and we all receive one final serenade. The trails are still amazing shape and the riding is as good as it gets. It's hard to believe November 3rd and we are riding in short sleeve shirts. As we say goodbye for now, I can wait until next year. Let it snow!
