It's Official: Intrawest, the owner of the Steamboat Ski Area, has picked a location in Denver
Intrawest announced they have secured office space in Denver's LoDo area which makes thier move official in my mind. Intrawest is currently based in Whistler and this move is part of the restructuring they have been making over the last couple of years. I understand the business reasons for the move but I hope that it doesn't take the mothership's passion for life in a ski town out of the people. I like the new corporate tagline of Creating the best memories again and again. I think it captures the goal of a resort company that wants to succeed by giving its guests the best experience and is very compatible with what people love about Steamboat.

It is likely this move is also designed to slim down corporate staff because it is awfully hard to leave a great ski town not to mention your home country since this is an international move too. Lets hope that this helps Intrawest rely more on local talent in each of their resorts like Steamboat and this makes the organization more focused and in tune with their customers than ever before. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Despite the initial concerns there were when Intrawest purchased Steamboat they have done a great job of maintaining the right feel for Steamboat and continued to generously support many of the things that makes Steamboat a special community.
