Ahhhhh one of our most favorite weekends of the Steamboat summer is upon us - the 9th annual Steamboat Wine Festival.  As much as we hem and haw that summer seems to be flying by, the onset of August kicks off with wine tasting events that will please any palate.  From discerning connoisseurs to those who just love to sip and savor, the Steamboat Wine Festival is jam packed with tastings, pairings, and even a "wike" (wine + hike = "wike").

The Steamboat Group highly recommends the infamous Friday downtown wine stroll.  Buy a ticket online or at Central Park Liquor, grab a wristband and a map at the courthouse tasting tent then peruse the various downtown venues hosting wine making's finest purveyors.  It's also the First Friday Artwalk where local art

Just two more days before 200 cyclists hit 26 miles of Steamboat singletrack to raise funds and fight cancer.  This epic event, now in its 3rd year, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Ride 4 Yellow and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  In its inaugural year, Lance actually rode with the participants leading them across the continental divide down into the cheering (completely ecstatic) Yampa Valley.

The Steamboat Group's own, Jon Wade, will be on his set of wheels this weekend - riding 4 yellow.  If you want to donate to Jon's ride, click on over here to his Ride 4 Yellow, Team Slopeside, donation page.  You can also support this awesome cause by supporting any of the Ride 4 Yellow sponsors.  A few of our favorites .... In honor of this weekend's fabulous fundraiser for Strings in the Mountains, the annual Steamboat Kitchen & Garden tour this Saturday, July 21, we're blogging about our favorite ways to stock your Steamboat pantry.  We can't think of a better place to entertain friends and loved ones than Steamboat, and our sunny summers give way to plenty of outdoor feeding frenzies.  The Homesteader Kitchen Shop in downtown Steamboat is our favorite source for culinary accessories and now they have some of the most grill worthy cuts of beef in the valley.  Organic, natural & local meats, artisan cheeses plus locally made chocolate.  We must admit, we were swooning a bit over the Alpine Slide sea salt and milk chocolate bars as well as the cowboy coffee dark chocolate

One of the best things about summertime in Steamboat is, without a doubt, all of the opportunities to hear great live music outside.  Whether you're enjoying an evening out with the whole family at the free summer concert series, bootstomping to country at the rodeo, luxuriating amidst the classical notes at Strings in the Mountains' weekly Music on the Green, or just kickin' back, acoustic style, while shopping at the Mainstreet farmer's market there's something here for all musical tastes.  Please enjoy this small sampling of Steamboat summer music and don't forget to pack the sunscreen!

This weekend we go right from red, white and blue straight into all of the colors of Steamboat.  A cobalt sky, bright yellow shining sun and, hopefully, a rainbow or two.  So many of our beloved guests know our cowboy history, and, so many more full and part time locals are now taking advantage of our ever growing artistic side. The kick off to the summertime arts celebration is the annual Art in the Park put on by the Steamboat Springs Arts Council.  Fine artists and craftspeople dot the grass of West Lincoln Park showing off their wares and entertaining the local shoppers.  Free music performances, delish dishes and, of course, the amazing Kids' creative corner complete with face painting, hot air balloon making, sand sorting and the oh so adorable

How is the market? Top level it's encouraging. More and more people who have been watching things carefully are deciding this is the time to look more closely at their options in Steamboat.   We continue to see good signs locally, in the key regions where people come to Steamboat from and the national climate continues to improve.  People tell me that they think the news is much better now than it was a year ago. That along with lower prices and interest rates makes this a good time for them to look.

I talk to clients everyday, they tend to have long term plans for spending more time in Steamboat and they are seeing this as a chance to either own at attractive prices or upgrade to a place that fits their longer term plans.  If they don't own here

Happy 4th of July from the Steamboat Group!

We can't think of a better place to call home.  Freedom from the hustle and bustle of big cities, freedom from the congestion of cars, freedom from a life lived indoors.  A place where families come together: grandparents, parents and those oh so amazing grand kids.  Streamers, biking in the parade, flags & face painting all replace x boxes, wiis and ipods.  We provide the backdrop, we provide the fun.  All you have to do is show up and enjoy.  Having an amazing time is inevitable.
