Biking in Steamboat Springs
Posted by The Steamboat Group on Tuesday, June 7th, 2011 at 11:29am.
Looking up toward Mt. Werner the snow still caps the top, but the warm weather over the past week has everyone out enjoying the other mountain in town. Howelsen Hill has officially opened for mountain biking. While there are still a few muddy sections that are marked as closed, a large portion of the mountain is open and ready for the summer season!
We got out this morning before work for a quick ride, taking full advantage of the trails near town that are beginning to open. We rode up the Lupine trail on the front of the mountain enjoying the great condition the trails were in. For our decent we decided to switch things up and went down Larry's and MGM, through the meadow and down to the base. A beautiful morning and great to be out enjoying Emerald Mountain. For those interested there is a Town Challenge Mountain bike race tomorrow on Howelsen, with races starting at 5:30. The weather looks great today and tomorrow, enjoy!
