This is a great chance for people who love Steamboat Springs to make many local nonprofits’ holiday season a little brighter. In a community that gives so muck back, Yampa Valley Gives is an event that is important to us all.

Yampa Valley Gives is a localized part of Colorado Gives Day. This statewide event takes place the first Tuesday in December every year. Currently in it’s third year, Yampa Valley Gives hopes to surpass $500,000 in donations for 50 vetted and verified nonprofits in the community. Glen Traylor of Ski Butlers brought this program to our valley and it has made a huge impact already.

Reflecting on the event, Jon Wade stated, “There are so many wonderful non-profits in our community. This is a way for the community to give

It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago it was a rare siting to see a moose in Colorado. During the 1970s, only a few stray moose wandered the state. Their numbers were slowly increasing, but not enough to boost the population. In 1978, The Colorado division of Wildlife arranged the first transplant of 12 Utah moose into the Walden area. Then in 1979, 12 more Wyoming moose were transplanted in the same area. After one more transplant in 1987, their numbers soared.

As this population grew, they began migrating over the Continental Divide and into Routt County. The Yampa Valley is ideal habitat for moose and without any natural predators their population is thriving. Moose can be seen almost on any given day in Steamboat Springs. They

Originally from Virginia, I started my life off as a military kid. We were stationed in Colorado where my family fell in love with the mountains and moved here permanently. I have spent most of my youth and adulthood under the shadow of Pikes Peak, in Colorado’s front range. I have been fortunate to live all over the U.S., and even for a short time in the, Dominican Republic, but the Colorado mountains have always had my heart and kept calling me home.

My introduction to the real estate world came in 2004 when I started working at Stewart Title in the marketing department and later as executive assistant. My husband, Shawn, and I started our family in 2006 when our son, Peter Maddox, was born. Nineteen months later, his sister, Eliana,
